Peterborough Currents is published by the Peterborough Association for Local News, a non-profit organization with a mission to deliver in-depth and community-centred local news to the people of Peterborough, Ontario.
PALN is governed by a volunteer board of directors, and the news content on Peterborough Currents is primarily produced by PALN employees and freelancers. Get to know us, and if you’d like to learn more, drop us a line!

Co-editor
Gabe Pollock is the co-editor of Peterborough Currents. He’s a writer, editor, and arts administrator based in Peterborough-Nogojiwanong. He was previously the co-founder of Electric City Magazine and has written extensively about music, culture, and politics in this city.
Co-editor
David Tough is the co-editor of Peterborough Currents. He is a historian and musician, and is the author of The Terrific Engine, a social history of income tax in Canada.

Treasurer
Bea Gaffney-Knox is a former editor of Trent University’s student press, Arthur Newspaper. Now, she supports non-profits and small businesses with bookkeeping and financial management at Juniper Community Bookkeeping. She is an artist and past contributor to Peterborough Currents.
karol orzechowski
Board Chair
karol orzechowski is a longtime Peterborough resident and has been active and involved in the local arts community for more than a decade. He has a passion for grassroots, DIY endeavors and a particular interest in fighting for a strong and healthy information landscape. Outside of his role on Currents’ board, karol works for an animal advocacy research group based in the United States, makes music under the names garbageface and Gnostic Front, and writes a newsletter about culture, tech and many other things.

Will Pearson co-founded the local news website Peterborough Currents in 2020. For five years, he led Currents as publisher and editor until transitioning out of those roles in the summer of 2025. He continues to support the work of Peterborough Currents as a member of its board of directors. For his day job, Will now works as an assistant editor at The Narwhal.
