PHOTOS: Hundreds celebrate at the 2023 Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Parade
Revelers took over George Street to show their pride

Hundreds of people marched down George Street to celebrate their diverse gender identities and sexual orientations at the 2023 Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Parade on September 23. The parade was a culminating event for this year’s Pride Week, which featured dozens of events organized by the local 2SLGBTQ+ community.
After speeches were made outside of City Hall — including one by Jax Blue, who was instrumental in organizing the first local pride parade twenty years ago — revelers marched south down George Street and turned left on King Street to reach Millennium Park, where the festivities continued at Pride in the Park.
The theme of Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Week this year was “Love Out Loud,” which organizers described as “a set of values or conditions that tell the world that ‘we’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.'”
“Love Out Loud” is “a rallying cry for visibility and safety as the 2SLGBTQIA+ community faces threats from those who wish to silence us,” stated organizers.
