Ev Richardson moved to Nogojiwanong/Peterborough in 2013, having family roots in North Western Ontario (Robinson-Superior Treaty, 1850). While enrolled in Trent’s Sustainable Agriculture program, Richardson became well acquainted with the regional food system with jobs at Farms at Work, Main Ingredient, and Dan LeDanDan Foods. This inspired them to start their own food business, Belly of the Beast Craft Kombucha, which they founded and ran from 2016 to 2019. Returning to Trent as a staff person, Richardson worked for the Seasoned Spoon as Interim Education and Outreach Coordinator and then as the Program and Outreach Coordinator at Kawartha World Issues Centre. In their spare time, Richardson is a member of OPIRG’s Indigenous Abolitionist Study Group, tends to their houseplants and house cats, and spends time near the water.
