Pride Outside and Peterborough GAA have joined forces to introduce locals to Gaelic Football on Wednesday June 26 at 7 p.m.

An Irish sport played on a field, similar to soccer and other familiar team sports, organizers say Gaelic Football is “like soccer with hands plus basketball with feet”.
Participants will gather at the Adam Scott sports field, and coaches will begin with a warm on before introducing some basic skills of the sport. Then the group will put those skills to use with some fun drills.
This is an 18+ event and participants will be required to sign a waiver. Organizers recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Participants should also bring water to drink.
“It’s so fun to learn new things and meet new people, and that’s really what both of our groups are about,” Tracy Campbell of Peterborough GAA said. “I think it was inevitable that we’d collaborate.”
Campbell, originally from Nova Scotia, picked up the sport later in life playing with clubs in South Korea, Ottawa, and Halifax. In 2018 she moved from Halifax to Peterborough, and missing the sport, decided to start Peterborough GAA. The club has grown to over 20 active participants in just two years.
Anyone who enjoys the joint event with Pride Outside is welcome to attend more of Peterborough GAA’s training sessions, which take place Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Adam Scott sports field.
