Second Saturday Neighbourhood Market returns to downtown this summer

June 8, 2024 @ 10:00 am 3:00 pm

Back by popular demand, The Neighbourhood Vintage is excited to announce the return of its Second Saturday Neighbourhood Market series.

A past Neighbourhood Market day in 2023.

As the name suggests, the outdoor multi-vendor market will take place on the second Saturday of each month throughout the summer, from June to September, located inside the ‘Bankers Commons’ – a little-known courtyard nestled behind the Commerce Building at Water and Hunter streets.

During the Second Saturday Neighbourhood Market series, the Bankers Commons will be temporarily transformed into a bustling community market featuring over 20 local vendors. Patrons can access the market area through a vibrant mural-painted alleyway located next to Watson & Lou (383 Water St.).

The first of the market series is set to take place this Saturday, June 8th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. This summer’s market dates are June 8, July 13, August 10, and September 14. Throughout the market series vendors will alternate between vintage vendors in June and August, and local artists and makers in July and September. Each month Second Saturday Neighbourhood Market events will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm rain or shine.

Market-goers can expect delicious food and refreshment options from local vendors like Sam’s Wienery, Revelstoke, Black Honey Bakery, Beau’s Sandwiches, and more. The Neighbourhood Markets are family-friendly, dog-friendly, and accessible, so patrons are encouraged to make a day of it and invite friends and family to check out the market and tour around downtown.

“We didn’t know what to expect when we organized these markets for the first time last year, but they were a hit and we’re so excited to bring them to the community again this summer,” says market organizer and owner of The Neighbourhood Vintage, Jacquelyn Craft.

Vendors come from all over Peterborough and the surrounding area to connect with patrons at the Neighbourhood Market and offer a wide variety of goods, from vintage clothing and records, to handmade pottery, original art & prints, and so much more.

“We love being a part of this downtown community, so we wanted to create another reason for people to come down, shop some amazing local vendors, and enjoy a great day out in the neighbourhood,” says Craft.
