A message from publisher-editor Will Pearson
It’s no secret that it’s harder than ever to operate a journalism business these days. Sometimes, when our cash flows get tight, I wonder if it’s worth the effort.
But then I get out into the community to report a story, and I see how grateful people are when journalists take the time to listen and tell their stories with care. Or, a reader sends a note to say how much they appreciate our work, because they can’t find stories like ours anywhere else.
Encounters such as these remind me of how important Peterborough Currents is to the community, and how important it is that I keep trying to grow the business. Because right now, we’re held back by a lack of resources.
We choose to be funded by our audience because that’s the business model that aligns with our values. I believe it’s the best way to fund local journalism. But I need you to prove me right by signing up. Will you chip in?

How can I contribute without going through the website?
You can send an e-transfer to info@peterboroughcurrents.ca. Please also email us with your security question and answer.
Is your website secure?
All payments are processed through Stripe. Stripe is a PCI Service Provider Level 1 which is the highest grade of payment processing security. All credit card information is encrypted, sent directly to Stripe and is never sent to our website server. This means that we are PCI compliant and any breach of our website won’t result in stolen credit card information. Learn more here.
Will my contribution be considered a charitable donation for tax purposes?
No. We don’t have charitable status, so we can’t provide you a charitable tax receipt.
